Okay Nannys Nothing can be so bad that you have to leave.
Like I always say you have to communicate with your Host Parents. Yet yea, easier said than done right. I know I have been there too.
No matter the reason you don't want to talk to them, it will be alright. You can talk to me or other fellow aupairs.
I am the Ask a Nanny.
Just leave some comments about your situations and we all can talk about it.

How to Make it Work
So Hello reader,
If you read the first post then Thanks for staying with me. I am new to this and the posts will get more interesting as we continue. Thank you for your questions a comments they help me think of new things to post about.
Alright lets talk about how to make it work. Naturally there are many ways and these are my best advice that I can think currently.
Cost:
This is usually set by the agency and from what I have seen the monthly cost does not exceed $400.00 If you are not using an agnecy then other rules apply. My personal experience the angecy set it at 300.00 and my host family choose to give me a cell phone for emergencys and each month I recieved 20.00 extra just for the phone if I used up those minutes I had to pay for it. It was never allowed to have no minutes.
Organization:
The most important thing for a Nanny is to know what exactly is expected from them. For some famlies a regular daily schedual works and thats great then everyone is on the same page. For others the schedual is daily and goes the same almost weekly. I have the most experiance in this manner. Lastly is the common family that just goes with the flow and doesn't have a set schedual.
This last family should concider changing this for the Nannys sake. Many nannys go through a culture shock and a set schedual is the only way that can help her cope with the changes. Also set scheduals are said to be exactly what children need. Having a schedual can decrease or completely deminish the bad behavor of some children if this is present.
Mostly what I can say about this is to set a sechdual on paper and stick to it! Open communication is the only way the house hold can work together.
Free Time:
Nothing is more difficult than brining in someone else into your house and private space. Every adult wants free time and free space. The best way that I worked this out whilc I was a nanny was when I was free I left. It helped that my room was on the entire floor. I also had my own bath room. I had a bike and would just go into town or to a different city. Most nannys make friends quickly with other nannys and so it isn't a problem. If you are having a problem with them sticking around. Just confront them and be honest. It is your House and your rules. If you want more space and less face then say so - just nicer. ;)
For now this is all for today it is time to cook
enjoy and good luck.
xoxo

So you are thinking Nanny
[This blog will be a continous part blog and is themed: (Is nanny right for us)]
If you are a Parent and are thinking "Nanny" then I am sure this is a heavy decision to make. Having a nanny isn't for every family. It is a big responsiblity to your spouce, children, and Nanny. Having a nanny can be a Wonderful experiance for everone involved. For this it takes preperation and communication.
I have thought of some reasons why you maybe think "Nanny". Now lets see if it is right for you:
1. Do you have trouble keeping up with the housework
2. Is your work taking your energy so that you cannot spend it with your child
3. Do you want the best for your child but don't have the time
Now those are just a few reasons. Everyones reasons are more personalized to their life and their family. I do know from personal experience that having a nanny can help in many areas of daily life. These are a few that I can think of.
1. Nanny can help out in the morning with: breakfast, packing lunch, or getting the children to (or ready for) school.
2. Nanny can help with dishes or daily house hold chores (like other family members do)
3. Nanny can pick up kids from school or bus stop and take them to sports or just home
4. Nanny is there with children and can even get dinner ready
5. Need a babysitter, not with Nanny shes always there and can sit when needed
[I and many others have done all of these for our families]
Sounds too good to be true right. Well, maybe it is a bit. you cannot over work your nanny. Their main point of being a nanny is to learn about the Country they are in and to act like a Family member. So think of Nanny as you niece/nephew staying with you and helping you out. Be kind and felxible.
Most agencys have rules all writen out clear and easy to understand but a good rule of thumb is that a nanny is only allowed 30 hours of work a week tops. This includes 3 nights of babysitting. All agencys work a little differently. They are very kind so speak with and will answer all questions. If you choose NOT to go through an agency then, I say that it is risky, but your choice and then your own rules.
I need to end it here today. Through reading this posting I hope you have seen that Nannies are handy. They should live like a family member with you. If you organize their time correctly then they can help your family and make activities move smoother for everyone.
